If the reagent comes in a solution form then there's no reason it should magically expire 60 days after hooked up to the machine.

I understand, and also hear you. I do. I don't know how the product works and I've only read some posts here and watch the video they shared when they discussed it. In fact, I felt bad after because I made a comment about how ugly it looked and the engineer, forget the lads name, said there was a reason for it and explained it. I was like doh after and felt like a dork. Anyway my point is wait and see. Why? Because Seneye does something similar with their slides. They only last 28 days and are about 35 bucks for 2 or so. I forget how much but my point is that this may not be that bad in the end.

Now - if you don't want to test as frequent, then yes. Maybe it isn't for you.

I don't know what you want. You want Marine Depot to make an announcement about what? Their website says 'coming soon'. What do you want them to say about a product in development? By getting the 2016 Apex, you are still getting ready for the Trident.

I read your "Love Letter To The Hobby" and I must say, you seem like a pretty sincere person. You want to see this industry held to a higher standard. You spoke of not bullying other hobbyists, and you don't believe in giving airtime to anyone who makes a claim that doesnt meet the burden of proof.

You can belittle me, name call, and make cheesy jokes all you want. But the truth is that everything I have expressed frustration about are all things you specifically referenced in your article and were frustrated about as well.

Guys let's stick to topic only and enough with personal back and forth.
This is a family oriented forum and we need to be respectful of that.
This product is not out in public yet so there are no hands on experiences. Only people that have access to it are under contract not to speak publicly about it.
Second hand information that I provided earlier muchlike others is only coming from first hand visit to Neptune systems booth at reef conventions.
So whether is fake or 3d printed or real that is not the topic of the day.
Let's keep it civil and clean. Let information that is relevant and related to trident alone pass through. Thank you

Ok so i will need just (1) one link to run the trident and the dos?
Want to make sure i am ready when its released

Here’s a bit of insight on NSI that might help. We look for people at all levels. 80% of the people are chosen from having submitted a form with lots of detailed questions. Some of those questions determine cut and dry if someone will be part of the process at all. Others allow us to pick certain kinds of people or make the mix how we might want to see it. Sure, the mere completing of this form itself selects those who will at least invest a little time and give feedback - which is what we want. The other 20% come from picking people I happen to personally know their exact capability when it comes to our products and I know their aquarium system. And that doesn’t mean I think they are advanced. Usually just the opposite. Especially with people whose names you might recognize :)

Some big software updates to the Trident as well as Apex Fusion are coming soon and another round of NSI will be getting theirs very soon. So you will see more people giving their feedback. We are close to public availability.

Thanks for posting, Terence, that's really useful. Are you in a position yet to say how long after GA, international shipments will start?

Also, on the subscription service, will the reagents be available individually? (Actually, I seem to recall it needs to cycle through all three tests each time, so this may not be a valid question?)

Trident will ship with only 1 cable which is neptune 1-link cable. You will run that 1-link cable between Apex 2016 brain to trident or any other module in your system that has an open 1-link port to trident. DOS can be on aquabus on your system as DOS comes with its own power supply and aquabus cable. Trident does not come with aquabus or power supply. only 1-link.
You can run trident on aquabus as well but you will need aquabus cable and power supply..
Purpose of running 1link cables is to eliminate power supply to each individual device.
For example if you have 2 DOS or WAV pumps. you will need 2 power supplies for the 2 DOS and 2 power supplies for 2 WAV pumps. 1-link reduces all that.
You can power two WAV pumps AND the DOS with just one single power brick using 1link cables.

That's bad news for us international customers. Neptune have effectively increased the cost of the Trident by $230 as we still don't get the EB832 outside of the US & Canada, so will be forced to buy a 1Link module.

Hopefully Neptune will ship with a PSU

Not sure on international market, maybe they might ship those with PSU.
In US as of my conversation with Terence today, it will only come with 1link cable.
And i just checked, Apex 2016 brain does not have a 1link port. so i will have to buy a 1link module or eb832 or any other module that have 1link ports to make trident work with mine. Or i can run aquabus cable to trident and use external power supply.

Hopefully Neptune Systems can chime in of this and provide us better and accurate info.

Trident in the USA and Canada will ship with the 1Link cable. If you do not have a 1Link port available in your EB832 you can purchase a power supply and Aquabus cable. International customers will have the power supply and Aquabus cable included instead of the 1Link cable.

Great ! When does this 1 link (that’s in the box with the other thing ) ship out : )

Worth a Try eh . No April Fools Come backs pls LOL

Thanks Terence. Could you please have a look at my other question re: reagents? I think you may have covered this before, so apologies if a repeat.

Why you so emotional? What's the big deal here? Nobody is belittling, name calling or making jokes about you.

Thanks for reading.
I don’t understand what you want - - there is plenty of evidence about the Trident, and plenty of evidence about why it isn’t available yet. Somehow do you feel there is no evidence? What claims are you saying need to be supported? What standard are you looking to support? You said there was no announcement - there were, and are, many. You said there were no videos - there there were, and are, many - I even posted on of the trident in action that you specifically requested.
You have made pointed, disparaging claims in this thread about the business practices and intent of Neptune with no support at all. Seriously bad juju and a perfect application for Hitchens Razor. Hence, the Dahmer comparison which was shared to illustrate that point.
As far as I can tell, it seems much of your frustration is misplaced or misdirected. I get frustration that the product isn’t available, we all do, but you seem frustrated about stuff that doesn’t deserve frustration. Unless I am totally missing what you are trying to say.

I think Neptune has handled the situation really well, and would love to see companies hold back product release when they know the product isn’t good enough.

Will it be more complicated to configure the Apex/Trident to work with dosing pumps other than the DOS unit? Also will it be possible to configure the Apex/Trident to work with a two-part system where one of the solutions is combined Calcium and Magnesium (like the new ATI Essentials Pro)?

Thanks for all the info that helps ...at least i know i will be ready when it comes out

Each device needs it's own 1Link connection, for both power and communication.
So for 1 Trident and 1 DOS, you need two cables and two available 1Link ports.
There are 3 1Link ports on each EB832 power bar or 1LINK module.
Using 1Links where possible is a great way to reduce your load of bricks and cords.

On a total unrelated note thank you for posting this. I just sort of plugged all my Apex crap together with whatever cables and never put much thought into it. I do have a few components of theirs so maybe it is time to think about what you just wrote :) Pair of Cor 15's, Cor 20 coming this week, ATO, dimmer device thingy (yes, I forgot the name of it - lol), etc.

Thanks for posting this tidbit. I'll be taking inventory to see what is what because I also have their dosing unit which I've not set up although planning to this weekend.

Apologetically - I have no clue what 1-link is.. Maybe I should google it - but I thought I would get 1000 answers.
