Did I miss something about the Trident NP Reagent shortage!? Are they quietly going to discontinue the NP via a reagent shortage!?

Supply thing. I had a new set come in earlier in the month. Because this go around was a bit close I add a 30 day reminder to re-order after reagent swap. This helps me in case there is a shortage.

I'll continue to do this until we get the 6 month kits. Hopefully we get those this year. I recall the original Trident taking a bit of time to create those.

My last batch of reagents has given me nothing but out of range errors on NO3, even after resetting and calibrating twice. PO4 reading is good.

It really seems like they're either having QC issues and needed to redo some things or supplier issues. This is the second time I've gotten what I suspect is a bad batch of reagents and last time their support was not helpful and didn't refund the reagents.

Since I mainly care about the PO4 testing, it's not a huge deal for me, but it's definitely disappointing with how expensive the reagents and machine are.

Mine has also been out of reagents for a couple of weeks and they seem to be out of stock everywhere. Even when I do have reagents it is super unreliable. Worst $700 that I've spent on my tank.

I second this…manual calibration seems to have fixed all the issues upon launch.
Yeah, I've updated firmware. The first set of reagents after I did the firmware update and manual calibration worked great. It's this second batch that's giving me the out of range errors on the NO3 test even after resetting the unit, cleaning the chamber, and manually calibrating twice. I think there's just some bad batches of reagents out there and they're refusing to acknowledge it.

My original Trident NP was all over the board. I couldn't get consistent results even working with Neptune support. I eventually did an RMA. The replacement NP seemed better until I replaced the reagents. Then it was wildly inaccurate again no matter how much I tried to calibrate it.

I tried calibrating with the provided solution. I tried calibrating with tank water based on Hanna checker results. When that batch of reagents ran out, I finally took the unit apart to flush out the tubes and such. I found that three of the solenoids were not locked in place. Another example of Neptune QC excellence.

I locked the solenoids into place and flushed out the supply line. Then I put it back together and found that I was out of reagents.

So I don't know if my efforts have resolved the issues. My regular Trident is decent enough. It's not perfect, but it's close enough in general as long as I verify its results every couple of weeks to keep an eye on the drift.

I've had the NP for about 10 months and it's been a constant battle and constant disappointment. More than the money, the shear amount of time that I've wasted trying to get consistent results from this thing is aggravating.

Who knows? Maybe I am unlucky and got two bad units. My experience with the Trident NP has not been good and now I can't even buy reagents for it.

If I owned one of these (and I'm glad I don't) I would call Neptune Systems and ask them to refund the purchase price. If they were unwilling to do that (likely) make the reagent formula available to other vendors.
