Never seen anything like this...woke up to what appears to be Trochus out of its shell. Correct?

That shell doesn’t seem to be a tochus, is the snail still moving? It looks like a freshwater snail

That shell is NOT a trochus. What ever snail that is it’s likely dead now.

This is a Trochus snail shell

There isn't a shell in the picture. You are seeing just the animal out of the shell.

Correct...I found an empty shell then I noticed the snail attached to rock...it was still alive and gripping the rock! I got rid of it before it died...most bizarre thing I’ve seen in 10 years of reefing.

I'd check your water parameters, I had this happen in my freshwater tank with a bunch of pond snails (pea puffer food). What I read seemed to mention stress related and possibly the PH of the tank.

I have only seen it once before. My porcupine puffer broke the snail's shell and then promptly ate the snail.
