Looking to switch to a TM salt and I’d like to know if it would be worth spending the extra $$ on bio actif salt. FWIW I currently dose AFR and NP Bacto balance and will continue to do that with the new salt.

This is for a mixed reef by the way.

"Tropic Marin Pro-Reef - Designed for reef tanks with lower alkalinity and stable major element supplementation. Can Safely be stored away for future use. Tropic Marin Bio-Actif - Contains probiotic bacteria for fish and invert health. Cannot be stored and should be used within 24 hours of mixing."

BRS has a good video on the subject here.

R2R has a similar thread going on here debating the difference.

Thanks, at some point I’d like to do AWC so that alone would require Pro Reef. I’ll check out those threads
Definetly the Pro Reef then! I mix 750 l (a full 25 kg bucket!) and leave it for about 6 weeks before mixing more.

No probiotic, it’s pro reef with elimi-np added to it.

We are apparently using different definitions of what a probiotic is. I was using this definition, which fits Bioactif Salt mix

"denoting a substance which stimulates the growth of microorganisms, especially those with beneficial properties (such as those of the intestinal flora)."
