I have 3 tangs, all about 1 3/4" long in my 6' tank. They have a daily supply of nori, get fed 3 times a day, have no predators to worry about. They have peaceful tankmates, plenty of rock and coral to hang out and around in and I would dare say they are quite content. That being said, I also know that at some point they will out grow their habitat, so I watch for agression and stress. When that day comes, I already have a new home ready to take them in with some of the best marine biologists in my area. But for now, my hippo, powder blue, and black tang are doing very well. They recognize me, follow me around the tank, let me pet them, and even hang out in my hand. I think the size of the tank is important, but I think its equally important to maintain a good, healthy quality of life for them.
