Tunze 9002 on a BC29, should I?

I currently have a BC29 and just recently purchased a Tunze 9002 skimmer. Now, can anybody inform me the advantages as well as the disadvantages of running the skimmer 24/7?

Eversince the BC29 gas been setup, I'vd always did 5 gallon water changes, but for some reason, I always have a constant growth of hair algae growing on my (2) Koralia's.

Last Friday (1/7), I powered on my Tunze 9002 and took off to Arizona. I returned home on Sunday (1/9) and sure enough, no more hair algae on my (2) Koralia's; However, one other thing I did notice is my Vivid Emerald Mummy eye looked a little sucked in. Normally the chalice would be all puffed up around 8pm, but for some reason it looks different.

Does running a Tunze 9002 skimmer on 24/7 suck out a lot of good/bad nutrients in a BC29?

I havent put mine in yet, but i think you can adjust the amount of skim you get by playing with the bubble level.
Someone correct me if im wrong, im guessing.

Tyrrell109 that sounds right to me ! Good question I would like to know the definite answer as I am getting a tunze 9002 for my 29.

i use a tunze9002 with the stevie modded cup. Works fine but my tank has really low nutrients so not a whole lot gets pulled. Not sure if that is because of the chemi-pure and purigen i have in the steve-t in-tank also. The tank is basically just a holding tank for the remaining 10 captive bred clownfish that I hatched late last year. Generally speaking skimmers have one added benefits of providing a lot of oxygen to the tank. Therefore I would leave it on 24x7 - if only to provide that level of O2 as well as nutrient export. My goal was to set up a different type of tank but for now my bc29 is serving as a temporary home to my clowns.

Tyrrell109, you are correct. You can adjust the skimmer by moving the blue dial.

I never knew anybody who were able to breed clowns. Good job.

Extremehobbyist, thanks for the video link. I really enjoyed watching it; However, I am not using a sump for my BC29, so would a phosphate reactor still work for me?

yes it would a am using one on mine a just had to cut a little hole in the back of the lid to fit the tubes for the pump and the return they make one that hangs on the back
