I recently grabbed an uninturuptable power supply for my nano tank. I had thought about it when I first set the tank up but promptly forgot about it. it wasn't until I happened to see one on ebay that I finally got one (tank over a year now!)
Today, not two weeks later, it's saved my tank! Currently in a power cut, everything went off half an hour ago, I panicked and ran to my tank!!...everything was fine! I should have about 10h power for life support, more if I unplug the light.
This has got me curious as to others emergency arrangements. What's your backup plan?
Im feeling comfortably smugg at the moment, it doesn't happen often so I'm going to enjoy it.

Glad to here the UPS worked for you! I wrote up an article on emergency protocols:

On my two display tanks 75G & 120G, I use a 20A 12VDC battery charger that maintains two deep cycle batteries that operate two Mag7 return pumps in each tank using 500W inverter. I test the system once a month by unplugging battery charger and observing battery voltage for a few hours. Using this test of electrical load, the systems will circulate water for 52 hours. Because cooling fan for inverter is loud, I plan to move UPS to back porch

Currently on day 3 of no power in North East PA

I have a 2000w generator running wave makers and a 400w heater on each system. That is keeping the tank at 71. Then I filled my propane deep fryer with water, and I’ll heat up two gallon jugs of water to about 115 and put them in the tank every 2 hours or so.

The worst part is the house is at 54 degrees, so no matter what I do, I’m fighting a very steep uphill battle

Is there a furnace or stove you can fire up for some heat? BBQ grill?

I feel your pain. Last year after our ice storm, I purchased this propane space heater with low oxygen shutoff to allow use in house.

A space heater is a low consumption, effective/ safe indoors, and readily available option(assuming roads are passable and stores are open).

I have like 4 generators all with selectable fuel choices, especially NG & LP as I have a NG outdoor hookup and backup propane tanks…
I also got TWO of these
Rechargeable Air pump

I realize the conventional wisdom is to use pumps for flow but bang for buck air is waaaay less power, less likely to blast corals and does work short term for life support…
That think about air irritating corals is overblown, besides they will die a lot quicker from lack of air/water movement than from “irritation

Don't discount vertical flow from air movement as a viable option

I really need something like this on my nano. Thanks for the reminder!

I have a couple Ecoflow Rivers for an automatic backup system. Then I have a generator for a long term power supply.
