Has anyone used a UNS 30a as a reef, if so what modifications did you do to make it useable as a reef? I know I will be taking out the filter sponge and putting in some biomedia. Besides that I will be getting another Duetto ATO and possibly upgrade the pump to a sicce micraplus or micra. I also have an AI Nero 3 that I could use for better flow as well as a Kessil a80 as my light. Any recommendations for anything else? I might go with another soft coral/macroalgae tank with a goby or blenny species.

Well I think I will go ahead with the 30a tank. Going to look at my LFS for some live rock and get a 5 gallon bucket of salt to move with me as well. Right now it looks like this and I will for sure do a deep cleaning of the tank. I also have some dr.tims one and only to help boost the tank. For now it will go on my dorm desk, but in the future it might end up on a little stand.

Well I started the cleaning/tear down of the 30a. After it’s all clean I think I’ll go to my LFS tomorrow and see what they have for live rock and I might even pick up a rock just to have around as the LFS in my college town is pretty bad. Here is what the current state of the 30a looks like. Some cleaning to do but it should be a great base for a new tank

Welp I ordered KP rock for my tank, I got some water from my LFS as well as added in the sand. The rock in the tank right now is just to hold me over until my KP rock shows up and then I will give it back to the original owner. So pumped to get some caribbean live rock again. Thinking I will go more gorgonians this time and less macro algae. Not sure on livestock but I have a few months to decide on that. Next step will be potentally getting a Hygger mini wavemaker and watching all the life come off the rocks.
