URGENT ,Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate

hey guys, i know ammonia is 0, nitrite 0 but what about nitrate ?
and should i see a spike in ammonia after feeding ?
when should it return to normal

Is this a new tank? Also , how are you testing the water?
Desired ranges are Ammonia <.025.... Nitrate 20 or slightly below and Nitrate - disregard which is freshwater specific. I assume you are using API tests which are generally less than reliable with ammonia producing false results

i just fed and also added a fish
ammonia .50 nitrite 0 nitrate 40
cause for concern is my zebra eel, in cave but his head has been on its side for the last few hours. he’s not doing it anymore but i want to be safe

yes i’m using api master test kit, another recommendation?
how about cleaning my filter can this help?

Filter cleaning will help- What type of filter and recommended kits- Salifert or Hanna Brand
