Hello everyone, I just got some yellowtail blue damsels. can anyone tell if my fish is sick? Like they're dull/pale at the same time depending on lighting. The one on the picture on the right has a weird green hue to him but I don't know if its cause they're stressed. This is the second fish im getting so be patient with me please but do they look normal? i dont wanna kill my other fish

Lotta questions!
What do you have them in now?
Do you have them in something to remove the ammonia?
Did you drip acclimate them?
Are you planning on quarantine?
What's your next steps plan?

theyre in my tank, they were in a plastic cup that can hold like 2 gallons thorougly rinsed and then with saltwater

i drip acclimated half way then used a turkey baster to add small amounts of water every couple minutes

and quarantining or returning them isnt an option

they look awful rn. i added all 3 into my tank i only see one, and it its breathing but it is in the sand right now im not sure where i went wrong

Is the tank cycled? Do you have other fish in the tank or these are the first ones? What size is the tank? Do you have more rock? That’s not much rock.

If they’ve only been in the tank for a couple of hours after being shipped, I wouldn’t worry too much yet. Give them time to adjust and recover and see how they are doing tomorrow. From what I can tell, they look stressed, but that’s normal given that they were just transported.

With that being said, you should consider quarantining in the future. A QT system doesn’t have to be anything too complicated. It can be as simple as a bin/bucket with a heater, air pump/air stone, and a small wave maker to agitate the surface.

If they look worse, I would post this in the fish disease sub forum, and the fish medics will see this faster.

They are breathing fast in the Video. Do you know the salinity of Water they were held in while shipping? Also, did the water get they were shipped drop dramatically in Temp during Transport? What other fish do have in your Tank? A word of warning, most Damsels are mean and 3 together may fight or harass your other fish.

not sure of the shipping water salinity but i'm assuming the normal ranges my tank is 1.025-1.026, i think some were shared with other fish. the temperature never dropped dramatically it was kept in a car with stable 72f. also i have 2 clownfish and a green star polyp coral in it right now both doing fine. the tanks 125 gallons with plenty of hiding spaces i was told they'd be fine online and by the fish store

How were these fish acclimated?
Ive seen this where the fish are better the following day and stress of netting may play a role. See how they look tomorrow

72 is a little low as you want 77-78 range but again, allow them to settle overnite

they were drip acclimated for 10-15 minutes but the airline tubing had an issue it would only go like 1 drop per second since it was unable to be loosened i wanted to get them in asap after acclimating so i switched into adding a fraction of my tank water every few minutes

the car was 72f i said that to clarify there werent significant temp changes. my tanks 78f

Sounds like both temp and specific gravity were not equalized sufficiently but again see how they look in the morning

The LFS may have been running low Salinity and Fish have a hard time transitioning to higher normal Salinity levels. Damsels are very hardy and at this point there is nothing you can do so let them settle in.
