Hopefully it will be decades before you have to consider worrying about disposing of your next of kin's personal effects.

You keep a few of the clothes that bring you the best memories.

The rest go to other family members or Goodwill.
Be generous about who gets what. It's not worth fighting over.

Most of the furniture gets kept by various family members but some of it simply gets sold or Goodwill.

Hopefully someone will be intrested in moving into the house or you sell that too.
Hopefully that doesn't turn into a ridiculous nightmare concerning the separating of various other assets.


Your tank is a "test" that they will most likely fail at, and that will make them sad.
Give it to another reefer who would appreciate it.

I remember having several 7" black arawannas when I went to bootcamp.
Asking my dad to take care of them was meaner than I realized.
He felt really bad when they both died while I was still in boot camp.

Just about all of our stuff/wishes are fully organized at this point.
Same with our 87 year old parents.

It's just the normal end of a wonderful life.

Holy cow first off thanks for all the love and I would have responded earlier but I sorta just retired to my dark peaceful cave with music. I was on a few times but again so no alerts so now I’m just checking here to first daily lol.

@norfolkgarden I adored your posts and at a loss for words but when my brain is not trying to drive nails through my eyes and nose I may find the appropriate response. Just know it meant s lot to me and yes there is tons to response to and think of. I definitely will leave my tank to one of my fellow reefers etc. the problem is getting it to them, with out killing everything. My niece and nephews refuse to let it leave the family but again they are fairly young etc.
I never considered how hard it would be to move a 240 size full reef and fish from Boise Idaho to who knows where.
I honestly don’t have any serious reefers in my area that would appreciate it. I may have one but he kinda was getting out of it. A good friend Lilly really really would do well with it but she lives like past Quebec Canada. Moving a 240 that far and cold or heat would be kinda insane.

I have always thought just saying oh well and who ever gets my home, then the tank stays and required to maintenance it as part of the deal. Sounds harsh lol but maybe not, I learned that many people suffer from set backs and failures and stress. I try to learn from them and think they are kinda blessing to make me a better all around person. But again really really appreciated the kind words. Even the second post was amazing and I love it. But as much as I try to respond like I should, (I just have been really suffered from severe tiredness and extremely painful migraines.

It’s terrible when the most relaxing thing is something dark and soft music.
@Katrina71 yss all good things must come to an end even me lol. But I’m hoping my reef inspires those around me how beautiful life is and our reefs are so amazing.
The local aquarium when I asked said they would be simply greatful, but I set a rule they would be in place. They would need to keep the tank together unless the fish out grow it.
They also said they definitely could move it within one day qt all the fish for safety and then have it as a one of their donated display tanks. They don’t get many but they get lots of my frags. Which worries me lol they kill most of their mixed reefs. :( anyway hope that’s years and years away

So today after sleeping and being forced to stay inside lol, I think I’m rid of the head cold and sinus infection yay. But for the love of burnt toast w burnt popcorn on top, I wish the mono would leave. It has definitely worn its welcome out and as much as I like time off, I can’t do anything.

I am not even suppose to go to the store or anything normal (good thing for parents lol). Luckily it’s till the end of this week and I should be good to be among the living again. Come to find out, (family took in their kiddos and) all three have it but they don’t have any of the symptoms. They were or we thought sick with colds nope. So thanks for the kiss of death guys (which they know I’m kidding) but I have been so pathetically lazy (ordered to basically), that I would win an award. This will soon change lol for the better and I’m hoping when I see my dr tomorrow, she doesn’t do what I think she may do (eeek).

Anyway on with my tank, wait for it lol nothing has changed simply because I have done nothing at all lol. Other than the normal stuff, and my fish are mad at me. Was suppose to have my dad get more fish food because I ran out, and I forgot. No food for them tonight as they sit by the tank saying feed us. :( sorry guys I’m a horrible parent :(.

I have no idea and never thought I would catch this as bad. But it makes sense because my immune system was already fighting a cold and sinus infection, not surprised by this at all.

I’m curious my goby has moved so much sand to the corners lol I have some bare glass showing in the center. Can I just spread the sand back over and make it even again? Don’t wanna disturb my sand bed and spike anything but he is trying to build mt Everest out of sand.

My new yellow head something goby does the same. It’s super annoying. The corals actually seem to really like it though lol. I would just scoot it back to the middle if you happen to be in the tank, it won’t disturb more than is already disturbed. No rush though, he will just move it back tomorrow ;)

Lol niceee :) I just turkey baste blast the sand off my corals and rocks when I’m target feeding my lps, it works for now... lol. I don’t know why he feels the need to scoop sand then swim all over the tank, dusting everything with it. It would be nice if he learned some goby etiquette from my yellow watchman.

Lol I soooooooo wish, my tank is soo deep that not only do I get soaked, but I have to put a snorkel on and I get to have my daily bath. It gets old really fast, but hey the water is pretty warm and the salt rips all the lotion out of my hands. (Which now I don’t even put on it I have to mess with the tank or I take a shower first).

Good morning friends sorry been quiet, but today has been better as of the moment. I have decided today that since my brain is not hurting today lol it’s time to get the tank cleaned up. Not like it’s super dirty, but need to test my water, clean filter pads, empty skimmer wash filter socks etc.

I’m also to the point that I have to frag coral again lol and I’m glad it’s all growing nicely. I also received an email that my new tank shipping has been delayed do to an inspection fail. (Wonder what that means, other than obviousness) but how serious. Well that’s on my to do list, and another follow up with my dr.

It’s been nice catching up on sleep and I should be back to my normal updates and posts etc yay. I must say, to all my friends I’m on soo glad that your here. My tank brings me much happiness, but friends bring out a lot more. I promise not to get silly sick again lol. The good news is that when I get to go back to work next week, (I have a dr note lol yippie which says I can’t work more than 50 hours a week till further notice.) As much as I do love work it’s nice to have a little bit of a life. (Also would somebody please send snow to Boise, everyone is getting snow but Boise soooo jealous I want to build a snowman (oh did everyone see next November frozen 2 comes out so excited).

Did you metion you are in a residency program? Good luck with the 50 a week maximum! Your doctor my have to confer with your boss lol! Glad to see you are on the mend, all that talk about what to do with your tank if you passed was more than a little depressing.

However you could just have them call me since I know how to move tanks and only live about 5 hours away. Tell me don't you have a local public aquarium? Seems like I saw a reference to one a couple of years ago. Ever see the aquarium in the Shore Lodge in McCall? How about the two in Pioneer Title Company's office on West Rifleman?
