I use an entry-level microscope sometimes. I found out there are small cameras made for microscopes that fit into where the eyepiece goes. The camera is connected to a PC or a phone via usb cable. I thought this would make it easier on my eyes, as well as for taking pictures or recording videos. But even after searching for a bit, I wasn't sure if I understood how it worked. I don't know much about the subject in general and hoped someone with the knowledge could share their thoughts with me.
When you remove the 10x eyepiece and insert the camera, does it mean the image magnification drop by 10x? If that is the case, I think it won't appeal to me very much. Are there also cameras that fit on top of the eyepiece lens so you can still make full use of the magnification from the eyepiece lens?
Do you feel these cameras are worth getting?
Cheers

The camera may act as a 10x or greater eyepiece. The camera may come with an app as well. Send a link and I will look it over.

I use the Amscope camera for my microscope and it works good. I added the camera because I could never get my iphone to work taking a picture.

I forgot to mention the microscope I use is Swift SW150 with Eyepieces: 10×, 25×, Objective lenses: 4×, 10×, 40×. So the maximum magnification is 1000x. I want the camera to be able to capture what is close to 1000x magnification.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't have any particular product in mind, but I was looking at something like this.

The camera is low resolution. The image might be OK, less than 1 megapixels, but details could be a bit fuzzy. I found 5 mega pixels to be a good lower limit. Also, make sure inner diameter of the tube that accepts the eyepiece on your microscope matches outside diameter of camera, in this case 23 mm.

Thank you. I'd better look into 5MP cameras then.

You can get pretty decent pictures with a phone camera held up to the eyepiece. Just mount the phone on a tripod so it is stable and doesn’t move around. This is certainly not the most ideal setup but just throwing this out there as an option.
