A used Elos 200XL just came up for sale in my area. It's about 3.5 years old, and other than a few scratches, is in fantastic shape. The previous owner had seam guards installed by an aquarium builder, but there is what appears to possibly be a small bubble in the silicone. It's very hard to tell if it actually is a bubble though. Also, the glass is probably only 1/2" thick, and does exhibit a very slight bow in the front. I know Elos is a top end aquarium builder, but after having a Red Sea for the last few years I want something I don't have to lose sleep over. Anyone have any thoughts on what is "normal" for these tanks? Also, what would be a fair asking price for this? It comes with a very nice powder coated steel stand, sump, generic lighting, and a very nice rock structure. Thanks in advance!

I'ma bump this for you.

hard to tell with the silicone picture but once it is drained you could try and add a eurobrace to the tank if you can get the glass for it. Would help with piece of mind, but pretty much all big tanks without extra support are gonna have a bit of bowing

If you want piece of mind then buy a new tank that has Eurobracing and and top braces depending on size. In other words form & function over sexy looks.

My friends 200xl leaked after about 18 years or so. I know that's a long time but tanks shouldn't fail if the stand is good and leveled.

I passed on a use 200xl that was used. A friend bought it and it leaked 3 months into owning it.

Glass Cages and Planet make some nice sturdy overbuilt type tanks and the pricing is reasonable.
