Using Panacur C for Fenbendazole

Hi everyone,

I want to know if anyone has had success using panacur c to rid their fish from prazi-resistant flukes.

Specifically the product that’s attached to this thread.

Pure fenbendazole is not available to the public in my region, and would like to know I can use this product and dissolve it with DMSO.

I dont recommend this as it has to be used precisely but suggest PraziPro treatment which is safe for coral and most inverts but may take out worms and feather dusters.
Are you in the United States?

I’ve used prazipro at concentration 5 mg/L in a 24 hr bath and then put it back in a medication-free QT tank. Its symptoms significantly reduced but just a day or two later it starts having those symptoms again. Could it be that not all adults were killed in the bath? How would you go about this if you were in my situation?

No, I reside in Asia.

P.S the fish is in QT where there’s no corals or inverts.

It never had a chance with Prazi Pro which takes two days to begin taking effect and you to dose at 85% of recommended dosage and allow it to work for 8 days, change water and apply one more application lasting 8 days and do add an air stone as Prazi lowers both oxygen and appetite

I would not use that - it is only 22% fenben. The rest is binders and excipients, useful for dogs, but not aquarium fish (probably beef flavored).

Don’t use DMSO as a solvent. This article discusses praziquantel dosing:

Thanks for this Jay. One thing I’d like a clarification on though is that I’ve read in your article that Prazi does not affect encysted parasites. Does hypo?

If I do hypo at 1.009 for 30-35 days, should I expect that no kind of flukes will be present at the end?

Hyposalinity keeps the fluke eggs from hatching, and then they die. One researcher found this happened in 16 to 18 days, so he only runs hypo for 21 days. I prefer the longer period for an added layer of safety.

It kills the three common types of flukes in tropical marine aquariums. There is a slight risk of running into brackish water flukes, but that is seen more in public aquariums that bring in many different species, some coming from inshore brackish areas.
