UV Sterilizer Bleeding Light Through Body

I have this old 40watt up sterilizer I purchased many years ago. The branding on the housing reads Emperor Aquatics which is now Pentair. I recently noticed all the light bleeding through the body. I want to know if anyone knows if the UV is deteriorating the housing or just the black color of the body. Im a bit concerned all this (black dye ? )may be in the water. The tank is still in good shape just want some insight to this discovery. I tried pressing down with my finger and nail, it doesn’t feel soft.

Try scraping some of the black away on the outside.

I would just replace to be safe. Uv will make things hard or brittle not soft. Sort of think. Dried out.
