Hey this is the first time I’ve had a fish get sick and was wondering if this is ich or velvet? Really worried about the fish. He started scratching a lot last night. This morning I found some small dots on him. He’s eating but very minimally. In the video I kind of spooked him so he’s breathing pretty hard ( I hope that’s why he’s breathing hard ) Please help. Thank you.

Given size of dots- ich
You will need to treat in a separate quarantine tank using copper safe at therapeutic level 2.25-2.5 for a FULL 30 days and monitor copper levels with a reliable copper test kit such as Hanna brand- not api
Display tank will need to be fishless for 6/8 weeks to allow trophants to die off without a host fish

Thank you! I will get on that ASAP.

Ditto on the need for the Hanna kit to assure accuracy of the copper level
act quickly and the fish has a fighting chance

make sure there are hiding places in treatment tank to reduce stress

what other fish do you have in DT?

and sorry and best of luck

Will for sure get a Hanna checker for copper. I’m starting quarantine today. Any suggestions for which medication I should pick up? Was thinking of using Copper Power to treat ich and velvet.

I have 1 Midas blenny, 3 firefish, 2 royal gramma, 1 sixline wrasse, 1 helfrichi firefish, 1 blackcap basslet, 1 scopas tang, 4 green chromis, 1 tailspot blenny, 1 neon goby, 1 yellow watchman goby, 1 diamond goby, 1 fox face rabbit fish, and 2 ocellaris clownfish. I know it’s a bunch, but they’re all baby size for now but when they do get bigger I’ll have to donate the tangs, fox face and split some of them into different tanks.
