does anyone use verizon cell phone service to get on the web?

i was thinking about getting a blackberry through one of verizon's basic plans. i don't talk on the phone that much, so i don't really have a need to get one of premium plans. i would get on the internet, send email, and text messages way more than i would ever talk to someone....

anyways, i was reading up, and they charge $1.99/MB downloaded. now, is it me or is that CRAZY!!??

shoot, if i went to R2R's website and viewed a couple of threads with pictures and i would owe verizon like $30 in a matter of minutes...LOL

if thats the case, i think i may just go with a regular phone, and get an iPod Touch with the wifi capability that is free (if it can find service obviously).

i really do want to have instant access to internet wherever i am though. anyone have any ideas? i want to keep the verizon service, i'm not too crazy about the iPhone service.

Well i have tmobile, i use a sidekick and its 20 bucks a month for unlimted internet, texting email anything web related, and my plan is like 20 bucks a month for lik 200 mins free night and weekend so i play only like 50 a month with taxes

I've got verizon, just got the env2 actually, I've been on the net a few times and the prices are rediculous. And I have wifi at home and the verizon wireless net card for my laptop so i use that most of the time. I would stay away from it, it isn't cheap at all.
