So far so good. I’m currently in the middle of remodeling my home so that we can put up a 150 gallon. Right now I have a 36 gallon bow front. Good or bad idea to transfer everything or just start fresh in the 150?

Personally I would start afresh with new sand etc maybe use some of the rocks if there in a good state

I have a ‘new’ tank that is very successful, where everything came from the ‘old’ tank. But the old tank was clean to begin with. On the other hand, I have another tank here that I would never transfer anything from, because it’s suffering quite a few ugly problems.

Welcome! Great place here! Plenty of seasoned people and lots of collective knowledge. No problem we can’t solve together.
As others said depending on how your other tank is the deciding factor in moving things. If healthy and pest free I would only move a few rocks and maybe a few scoops of sand to the new tank. Good luck with the 150. I have a 125g tank and is a beast and runs like a champ.

As far as transferring everything, you can certainly do it with no problems and not even have a cycle if you have all the live rock. However, if you want to do new things or try all new animals, then you can start over.
Decision lies in your goal for the new tank.
Or, you can just do what the rest of us do and become a multi-tank owner. It will happen, just accept it.
