Mouth to mouth and tourniquet did not help.

That’s a tell tail sign of your Toby Puffer. A clown can’t do that clean of a bite.
Toby maybe 3 inches. He is a nipper goes after my fingers in the tank. ;Nailbiting

That was my first thought, but don’t Tobys have a fairly small mouth?
Your right I had to google it and as soon as I saw the pic I said to small of a mouth. That fish looks like a knife cut it pretty clean I have a hard time thinking a clown can do that. I’m puzzled on this one.

I'm just brainstorming - is it possible that it wasn't a fish but rather it got into a powerhead?

That would have chopped it up in little pieces and made a mess not a clean cut

clowns mouth is the only thing big enough. But I thought they couldnt do that clean of a cut.
In 25 years of keeping clowns I’ve never seen that! Is it possible sure anything is. I almost wonder if you have a viscous tank hitchhiker that you haven’t seen yet. Heck I had a polyclad flatworm the size of a baseball that eat all my clams and snails over a year before I saw it. There’s others on here that haven’t added anything in years and found a Bobbit worm.

Clown doesn't have the power to do that either. I would actually suspect a power head or maybe a rock collapse. Something mechanical.
Rocks havnt moved all good this after noon. A power head would have pulled it through beating the fish up. This was a clean cut like a razor blade.
