I think it is the Toby, many bites, not one. The fish likely was dead of something else before becoming a meal.

Yikes! What is the clowns size comparison?

Horrible! I'm so sorry!:(

That’s a tell tail sign of your Toby Puffer. A clown can’t do that clean of a bite.

Are you sure it wasn't dead and a CUC member did that?

I'm just brainstorming - is it possible that it wasn't a fish but rather it got into a powerhead?

Clown doesn't have the power to do that either. I would actually suspect a power head or maybe a rock collapse. Something mechanical.

Could a powerhead have shutoff briefly and the damsel swam into it for shelter? This happens to blennies during water changes or so I've read.

Holy cow! ;Wideyed;Wideyed;Wideyed;Wideyed

+1 Bullshark!

Or something in your tank that eats like a bullshark. Waiting for the bulge report.

I think it is the Toby, many bites, not one. The fish likely was dead of something else before becoming a meal.

Thank you guys and gals. Thank you for your concern and knowledge its really appreciated. The sense of humor was also appreciated.

Hello,

Your fish list doesn’t seem to have the likelihood of jaws. I’d look for a pest or large hermit crab even.
I wake up fairly early I'll take a gander tomorrow morning.

(Sorry if this was already said, I haven't read the whole thread)
The issue is we have not ruled out the possibility that the fish's tail was ripped off/bitten off and then subsequent bites were taken out of the "Exposed" end of the fish until it reaching the point you see in the photos. Afterall, once a fish is "leaking tasty goodies" the other fish aren't going to go to the opposite end (the head) to start nibbling, they will be opportunistic and eat the fish from behind.
