Been lurking for a long time but only a few posts.

I have a 400 gallon tank, 96x36x28. I previously had a 240 with an Ocean Motion hooked up to a Super Dart Gold. This tank I plan on using Vortechs but Im not sure what to go with.

What do you guys think?

2 x MP40s on opposing ends.
4 x MP40s. One on each end and 2 on the back.
2 x MP60s on opposing ends.

I agree, 2x MP60's without question, and possibly a MP40 on the back. I run a MP40 on a 30" tank and it is good but I don't see it being enough for a 8' 400G, you would need more than 4 of them.

Great thanks a lot. I dont have any experience with them and want to make sure I do it right. A bit daunting thinking about dropping 1200-1400 on "a couple pieces of plastic and magnets". :p

Be prepared to buy an extra wetside. They need to be cleaned religiously to keep the pumps in good running order. I run an MP60 and swap out the wetside every 3 weeks at least. One is always soaking in a vinegar solution.
