Wall mount electric fireplace?

As part of my basement remodel I am going to redo my TV area. The wife wants a small heater /fireplace. So I am looking into an electric wall fireplace. Anyone here have experience with these? Any tips/advice/models/experience is appreciated. I am looking at the 50 to 60 " size.

Not as big as what you’re doing but we have one in our actual fireplace.
I lived through a house fire in 1988 but lost many dear pets. I’ll never have a “live” fire in my house again.
Ours has many different settings to change backlight color, flame color, etc. it’s also a room heater but the glass doors need to be open to feel the effect.

Thanks! It was a very horrible time in my life.

We got ours off of Amazon a few years back. It needed to be small. The next size up wouldn’t have fit in the fireplace.
Not sure of the brand. There is a metal tag on the back of it somewhere But I’d have to remove it to see.
I do remember it being less than $100 though.

Do you guys run these on a dedicated breaker? Or on a shared breaker? Not sure how much constant current draw.

I just have it plugged into the wall but we never use the heater feature.

That’s going to depend on how much power the unit you pick uses.
Depending on where in the world you are, electric might be a very expensive way to heat. In a small space no biggy. For an entire basement could get costly. They’re also not good at spreading heat around large spaces.

Agreed, the goal is to not heat the entire basement. Only the TV area should benefit from the space heater.

I just had a new HVAC system installed last year. It is more than enough to heat the house. The old system was 17yrs old and in its last leg. The in wall will (imo) act as a small space heater for the TV area...the wife wants a fireplace downstairs for looks and a little heat. Currently with bare concrete in the basement during remodeling and the unusually cold weather it has been highlighted more by MrsRwreef haha. I live in Kentucky...so we get all seasons and utilities are not stupid expensive.

The fireplace sounds like a nice feature but you might want to use a duct or two tapped off your hvac. This way it’s on a thermostat and gets heat and Ac. Ac might not be needed much, in basement, but will help keep humidity in check
