Hello all,

I am looking to purchase an AIO tank for my new place. I am looking for a tank of a minimum of 50 gallons and max of 70, I would prefer an AIO over a sump as I will be on hardwood floors and I have heard more sump & plumbing leak stories over the safety of an AIO - is this correct? I am between a few but want other opinions.

#1 Option - JBJ RF-65 Rimless Flat Panel AIO - Much cheaper than alternatives and on sale through BRS. Anyone have any experience with the JBJ tanks?

The waterbox 50.3 or 65.4 - I like the dimensions of but have seen very sparse information or videos on this tank. - Anyone have any first hand experience?

Innovative Marine SR Pro 2 60 - I love the stand, heard great things about IM tanks and their sturdyness - lack of leaks. I do have concerns around the dimensions of it being a shallower tank that comes out further from the wall - thoughts on this?

Red sea Max Nano G2 XXL - Like everyone else I have heard of the red sea leaks - however I am getting conflicting info that the leaks are on the larger reefer tanks, not the nano's, I like the amount of info on these tanks, reef mat etc. also my LFS is a red sea dealer - save on freight cost. Let me know your thoughts.

Any other recommendations?

Thanks for the help everyone!

You are going to get a whole range of opinions on this topic. I like my Red Sea Max nano. Never had leak issues or any complaints with mine. The only issue I have is that the skimmer and ATO that come with it are not the best. However, the overall tank is a nice tank.

I like all of these options. I think the Red Sea has good dimensions. I would also look into the tideline aquatics 62g AIO. I like the IM but I personally wish it was just a little taller.

I love my IM. I also have heard great things about Waterbox, that was in the running for me as well when I bought mine. I know the Red Sea failures haven’t been with this size tank…but I’d be too terrified to have one of those in my house after all of the horror stories.

Waterbox or IM. How is RedSea even on the list, over priced and questionable customer service.

I have an IM AIO Lagoon 50. It is great. No problems after one year. very straight forward and easy to run. I used to have a Waterbox. It looked nice but, the IM stand is far better and the glass is much more durable. The Waterbox scratched very easily despite taking great care. Good luck!

Honestly for me, I’d get the SR60 from IM. Had one before. Sure it’s a shallow reef style but I think that works out to its benefit. And it’s not too shallow at 16.5 inches high total in my opinion. This was mine. Lots of space, but not overwhelming.

One more thing. If you are going after an IM, they seem to go on sale quite a bit in the summer. If you can, you should wait until then.

Regarding leaks: anything can leaks
Seams will eventually fail or an accident can cause damage and break the tank. It’s best to go with a tank with a good reputation from the company. I think the rule of thumb is most tanks should last 10 or so years before any failure may arise although some reefers have tanks that are 20+ years. AIO waterbox was my choice before I went with a sump. I believe Innovative Marine is also a good and well respected company.
