These are little terrors, I’ve recently added some stunning resplendent goldie Anthias and a lovely Maldives clown fish, done the usual introduction to the tank I expected a little aggression,I had the day of work so I could feed heavily and keep a eye on them.but this angel just won’t stop chasing them it did the same to my kole tang when I first introduced him but he was a lot bigger and after a few hours stood is ground and bossed the angel.i worried bout these little guys I think it’s gonna go bad,I put a mirror on glass just to see if helps but ain’t hiding my breath.ive tryed catching it before with no luck.next tank upgrade he will not be going in the new tank.il never keep another Pygmy again!!

Interesting. I've been holding off on one because I thought IT would be getting picked on by damsel and clown fish. Maybe I should go for it.

Don’t think you gonna have a problem there.but you might in the future when you want to add a few more fish!!

Well!!its the weirdest thing!the kole tang started to go for the cherub when the cherub went for the new fish, now I’m not sure if the kole tang is reacting to the cherub aggression and is trying to make sure he’s the dominant fish in the tank, but to be honest it looks like he is genuinely protecting the new fish, even now if the cherub goes near them the kole will follow and chase the cherub away.i still will never have another dwarf angel again, but that’s my personal opinion please don’t let my post put you off,but just be ready to pull him out.in all my years of reefing I’m not sure I seen anything quite like it

Thanks, I appreciate it. I did some other research after posting and it seems the cherubs (along with all the pygmy dwarfs) can be surprisingly belligerent. Thinking I'm leaning towards a flame angel, but internet pictures do not do the cherub justice. Very pretty blue even under subpar LFS lighting. Also from what I could gather one of the more reef safe angels, so that's cool. But apparently a little rude.

Same thing with my cherub. He attacked every new addition even after they were in a acclimation box. It’s better to put it in the acclimation box rather then the new addition

Dean - nice looking tank!

I guess I've been fortunate. I got a cherub a few weeks ago along with a pair of leopard wrasses that came from a fellow local reefer who was breaking down his tank. My research showed the cherub was not especially belligerent for a pygmy angel, and so far that's proved true. He stood his ground against my resident yellow-tail damsel (itself a fairly low key species for a damsel) and has not bothered my most recent addition, an ocellaris clown that was given to me a few days ago by another reefer breaking down his tank. I have no complaints with the fellow since he doesn't bother his tankmates or the corals; maybe it's just luck of the draw, but hopefully your angel will chill out as he becomes used to the new tankmates.

Cherub's and flamebacks can be aggressive to new additions. Nearly at times as bad as 6 line wrasses. Best to avoid.
