Water changes

So, what is everyone using to prevent or to soak up spills during water changes and ect. I was thinking a really big bath mat, but open to suggestions. At the rate my hardwood floors are toast.

Old bath towels during water changes does the job for me.

The apsorb alot of water and water can't soak through to the other side
because the last layer is like a silicone here I use so thing like this

Personally I like post #2.

But you could consider applying a more waterproof finish on the floor around the tank if you want a more sophisticated and permanent solution. Could even be worth temporarily moving the tank to facilitate, depending on the extent you'd want to take it.

I just refinished the floors prior to setting up the tank and office. So, prevention is more the worry, I don't want to do it again.

I put down towels and try to stay dry.. but i dont.

The thing is the pads I mentioned cannot soak through at all. So the underside never gets wet. Regular towels always have some soak through.

It does not have to be bright green like the oneI showed. that's just the one I have .there are so Many colors and patterns out there.

I have 5 dedicated thick towels. I have not incurred the Wrath of Khan since

I should have explained I lay them around the Aquarium before changes. Any spills are easily soaked up during clean up

So with my first tank, I never considered I would make a mess! I’ve been using just towels and that’s worked ok but I love the training pads idea! I have a bunch now that mine is trained and was just thinking this morning what to do with them!! With my 100g, having learned my lesson, I bought a commercial mat that absorbs water and put it under the cabinet when it was installed and that has protected my hardwood floors!

I have a bunch of full size shower towels I don't care about and don't use for myself anywhere. They are used for water changes or when my dog needs a bath.

But after I'm done with tank maintenance, I pull the towel and then ALWAYS wet swiffer the area so that any remaining saltwater moisture is removed from the hardwood floors.
