Over the last week with friend and family in town for Christmas and lots going on I had my first water overflow in the basement. I pump 40 gallons of RODI when pumping in to the mix barrel. So the question is, What is everyone doing about controlling water if their is a leak, over flow issue. At this point my basement is unfinished but will me finishing it in the next couple months. Thanks.

Brs sells noise makers, but I just rely on the mechanical float switch to fill up the di barrel. They do make electrical solenoids with sensors if you're so inclined. But usually the float switches should suffice. If you have two separate barrels, that makes the di barrel clean, so the float switch shouldn't get clogged. Not sure I fully understand how the system works in your scenario.

If I'm understanding correctly you want a backup measure if your barrel is being over filled. If you have a drain in your basement you could put a large bulkhead at the upper part of the barrel and run a pipe to the drain. If your float switch fails and you have a large enough drain pipe that might work for you.

I have fully functional float switch but I manually fill my mix barrel with water from RODI barrel. I also have sensor setup on my apex now. My Maine question is if there is an over flow what do y’all have in place to restive the water to just the fish room. And not flood the rest of the basement. I was think about a 3-4 inch retention area built and install a drain in the wall. No drain in basement will have to make one.

My floor in the tank room is sunk 4" with a drain. You could build a dam around that area like you said "3-4 inch retention" . If you had a low spot, (maybe a 4" deep hole) that a small sump pump might fit into, you could use that to pump the water out.
