Hello and welcome to R2R!

Thanks for joining and asking questions.

And question is one we all ask and continue to tinker with.

Can you post some pics of your tank with the rock work ?

That will help as the rock work will block and redirect flow based upon how you have it aquascaped

Welcome to R2R!!! Depends on the shape of the tank and what type of water movement you r looking for. I have mine on the sides mid way front to back and 3/4's upward. I point them towards the front glass and bounce it off the front glass. Every tank is different.

Welcome home, you will love it here!

I agree with the general vicinity being 3/4 the way up on the sides of my tanks :)

Let’s see some tank pics! :)

hello , new to all this . So my question is for a Fluval m60 reef tank it is 25 gal. Where should you put your wavemajer pumps ? Sides , back, high , low or middle. Thanks !
Howdy
Without seeing your rock work we can use general rules. You want a turbulent flow. So if possible point them at each other. To high and they will suck in air. Too low and they will move your sand. If they point at a rock that can or will block or divert the flow. If you can not point them at each other maybe have them bounce the flow off the glass on opposite sides of the tank. If you have fish and no coral then a circular current pattern will be ok.

So I have my wavemaker on the left kinda upper and my regular flow on the back right pointed at the front glass then there is the return tube at the top of the water I have kinda pointed at the wave maker. ? Does this seem like to much flow for this 25 gal tank ?

Away from the intakes or overflows. If you aim at corner - you will have a gyre effect
