Hey all,

I posted this in the main build, but I figured I'd get the coverage here in case there are some more AIO-specific threads here.

I keep track of EVERYTHING in this google sheet, it's updated multiple times a day. Even if there isn't any activity, I just change the format.

Also, I'm new to this, and I'm sharing everything I'm going through for feedback and for others. If I'm doing something wrong, tell me. No assumptions with me. I love this hobby because it lets me ask questions that are seemingly simple, and it's nice to learn something, so no feelings hurt here.

Thanks! Trust me the organization only came together because I was motivated to finish this haha.
Nicely done! will be following along. In the process of building a Waterbox 50.3 AIO.
What are you replacing the Nero's with?
Thank you! I think a ReefWave 25 - what are you looking at?

Love the organization inside the cabinet, wish mine was this nicely setup. You also have a lot of really nice gear.
I was browsing through your spreadsheet and it looks like currently you have 19 fish, 2 clams, 2 anemones that can attain a very large size (one as much as 3 ft wide and the other which is very aggressive) and one AI 32 to provide the lighting all in a 50 gallon tank. So my question is, when is the tank and lighting upgrade happening :)

So to be honest I should've done my research, as apparently, they're incredibly difficult to keep in captivity (though this is disputed of course), and I've already lost one, so I feel pretty bad about that. The one that's still in the tank is doing fine, at least from what I can tell - so hopefully, I'll buck the trend there.

Thanks! So I'm definitely tapped out on fish - and I may rehome the remaining damsels (3x yellowtail and 2x springer) leaving me with the Chromis, Mandarins, Cardinalfish, Clowns, and of course Paul, my cowfish. That lowers food competition and crowding, as the remaining bunch keep to fairly distinct groups.

With the anemones, upgrading is on the horizon for sure - as they grow in the tank I'll pull back on the live rock to make more room, and then the plan is to bring on a Reefer 650 in a year once I move into a house and move the bigger Gigantea into there and leave the clam as a focal in the 50G. As far as lighting, would you recommend two AI 32's? Trying to learn and understand that still.

I’ve never kept clams myself but based on the info on liveaquaria.com they need a low nutrient environment with high lighting. One HD32 is more than likely not nearly enough. That’s probably part of the reason why the first 4 you had didn’t make it. Also cutting back on the live rock as the anemones grow isn’t a good idea as that will reduce the filtration capabilities of your tank. You’ve gone through quite a bit of livestock in the last two months. I am not an expert and I’m not telling you what to do, it’s your tank, but if it was me and I had lost that many inhabitants in that short amount of time I would scale back, do a lot more research, and try to make a plan going forward to keep the inhabitants of your tank alive long term. The clams and nems that need higher levels of light, husbandry and more room can come later in the Reefer 650 once you’ve got the basics nailed down more. I think you have done a great job of accumulating equipment and getting this tank set up with good quality equipment, but I also think you’ve added too much too quickly and as the old adage goes, Nothing good happens fast in this hobby. You will not find me handing out tons of advice on this forum, I’ve been doing this a while but by no means consider myself to be an expert. I will just say that slowing down and letting your tank mature and stabilize will be to your benefit down the road and will keep you in the hobby long term and save you money in the process, clams are not inexpensive. Hope you take this in the spirit it was intended and I hope your tank thrives for a really long time.

You are definitely correct, and I have definitely scaled back. I 100% appreciate it, and I am so sorry for the delay in responding, I saw the comment and agreed, but then I forgot to respond online haha. Everything was going "well," until I had an anemone die which killed off some coral I really liked. While the fish were ok, I ended up rehoming quite a few fish because I realized exactly that point, that it was too much going on. I've also rearranged some rocks (pics to come later today) to focus on giving more lighting, but since that, things have been much better. The good news is that parameters continue to improve in that they are stable, and I continue to pick up things you get with aging if you will. Like I said at the start, I appreciate all feedback and suggestions, I'm still new here, and this was exactly the feedback I needed, so thank you!

Looks great! I also have the Waterbox cabinet (35 gallon). How do you mount your IKEA Skadis board to the cabinet?

I drilled em :) The only one that was different was the one hanging from the ceiling. I ended up buying two Skadis of the same size, and used both of the metal racks you drill (since each Skadis only comes with one). Otherwise, they have one metal rack you drill, and two bumper feet you attach to the lower side.
