Hello,

I'm debating between a Waterbox Reef 190.5 and a Frag 155.5

I'm looking at 5+ ft tank to be able to have a tang or 2 in there, however my focus is on coral (mix LPS/SPS).

I find the frag to be a bit shallow but likely easy to work in, and the reef to be very tall (given the stand is 36.5" tall) which makes me a bit worried. In an ideal world Waterbox would have a 18-20" tank. Anyone has theses tanks? What would you do?

Reef 190.5:
60.5" x 25.3" x 22.6" Total height 59.1"

Frag 155.5
60.5" × 25.3" × 16.1" Total height 52.6"

I've taken a picture with my current 77G which is 24" high and has a much lower stand. The top of the bottom tape is where the Waterbox stands end, and the bottom of the tape at the top are 16 and 22.6. My current tank is 42in long.

I have the infinia frag. Currently have 3 tangs. I love the tank, but if you are planning tangs I think the extra height helps. With a 1” sand bed the water height is only about 13-13.5.

What made you choose the frag? Your tank look like it's on a great start :)

Thank you!
I really like the look of shallow tank and originally I was not planning on adding tangs. Originally was just going to go easy on the fish but after getting the sps bug again started to run out of room.
Now with the tangs it's given me a reason to upgrade, so planning on upgrading to around a 300 within the next year. But I do love this tank and will be keeping it for a maybe a zoa/lps tank.

I have the Infinia Reef 150.4. I chose it over the frag for the added height so I could create different zones and do a mixed reef. As time has went on, it’s sorta transforming into mainly an SPS tank 😅

I went with frag for ease of maintenance. I also like a shallow reef tank. Only drawback for me is having to lean down to see the fish. When I sit on my couch arm it’s perfect. Great tanks either way you go. No wrong answer imo.

Hi there.

I have the 125.4 frag and absolutely love it. The one reason i went with a shallow tank is im not a fan of putting my whole arm (pit) into the tank. Even though WB frag is short but the width is roomy, enough for tangs as most are not surface swimmers.

If you're planning on a SPS dominant, a taller tank is more ideal as it has more room for them to grow towards the light.

But def you can have few tangs in the 155.5 frag. you wont regret it !

Edit: Con is - it is a little short for viewing. I lean over a little when looking at my stocks.

Don’t ask me how many fish you can fit in the 4 foot frag tank. I have 18, honestly think I could add a few more. It’s all about creating a competitive environment and choosing wisely. I don’t feel like you have to choose corals vs fish. Just get a good skimmer, lots of light and flow, grow a lot of coral, and feed the fish a lot of high quality food to keep them happy. I also feed my corals frequently.
My nitrates drop about 10ppm a day due to coral growth despite all the feeding 🤯
