Hello so I have a waterbox reef lx 290.6

Dimensions 72.3”x29.5”x25.6”

I have two Nero 7s on opposite sides if the tank. Running random mode 20-45%. Any higher moves my sand around. I noticed some small dead spots under my rocks and towards the middle back glass near my overflow.

Any suggestions on if I should add 2 more Nero 7s to the back wall at low speed or possibly get 2 orbit 4s and move the Nero 7s to the back at lower speed?

Old picture but best I got to show where I have the flow issue and also where my pumps are currently at (green dots)
Added some extra pictures hopefully some help. If not I can take updated pictures when I get off of work.

Recently been battling high nitrate and thinking maybe increasing my flow reducing the dead spots will help a little? I have a reefmat thats connected to both drains.

lol which pumps do u use? I’m open to suggestions. I figured just keep the same brand that I currently have. All run on mobius with my lights.
I haven't had a large tank is many years, so most recently I've only used the EcoTech Vertech MP-10's.

Place two more on the back glass. Turn them down to get just enough flow through those spaces
2 more nero 7s? Or get 2 orbits and throw my current 7s on the back wall? I do currently have an issue where I can only run nero 7s max 45% due to if any higher it blows the sand in the very middle of my tank away.
I have caribsea special grade.

I would move the 2 you have onto the ends, you will be able to run them a little higher and if you run them random the turbulent zone will move through the whole tank. Once you start getting a lot more coral growth, add the orbits or other gyre style to the middle where your neros are now. Try moving them for now before you buy more, those nero 7s can move a good deal of water.
The increased flow is not likely to help much with your nitrates though. You could try carbon dosing or using an ATS or a few other options to lower them though.

nero 7s are currently on the sides of the tank. I can't put them any higher than 45% cause they throw the sand in the very middle of the tank all over the place. Leaving a bare bottom area in the center.

Oh and both are set on random flow. Should I instead put one on child mode? And make it do the opposite of the other pump? Maybe that will reduce the heavy downward flow in the very middle of my tank?

Oh, yeah... Green dots are current location. Have you got them in anti-sync mode? That would help a lot. The other suggestion being to move them up so they are just low enough not to create a vortex and suck air, as well as aiming them up a bit. That will let yoy get more turbulence and indirect flow to the sandbed. The other thing to do would be put a flatish rock where the sand is getting tossed to break the flow a bit. If you really want to though, the orbits in the middle will work too, i wouldnt put the neros in the middle though, you would have to turn them down even more or they would cause even more sand disturbance.

They aren’t in anti sync they are just both on random. I’ll try anti sync mode 👍

I don't understand why you have high nitrates you dont have much in your tank has it recently cycled?

Sorry these pictures are misleading. My tank has been up for 10 months now. I was fully cycled back last october.

So right now I have two Nero 3's facing each other in an IM Lagoon 25, I have heard of Anti Sync mode for Nero 3 but I assume that is referring to The Child parent relationship and setting the Phase to 180 or possible 90. When I have the parent in random mode though the pumps do the same amount of flow. It seems the only way for them not to match is for the mode to be in pulse.

From watching some videos it seems like Pulse for 2 seconds on and 2 seconds off is the way to go at 90 degree Phase as this will have 2 seconds on first pump 2 seconds off other pump starts after 1 second goes for 2 seconds then off for 1 second. Does Random work with Anti Sync mode as it looks like it does not for me though

That is a good question. I don't know the answer to that, maybe someone else here will chime in.
