So I found a cheap aquarium stand for my 40B build. It’s one of the standard big box stores stands. I’ve read good reviews everywhere but would like to ensure success.

Thoughts on building the stand then applying a polyurethane coating and sealing edges with silicone? Will the polyurethane stick to an already painted/treated surface?

Minwax Polycrylic Clear Satin Water-Based Polyurethane

This is a crystal clear finish. Anything that is oil based is going to add a brown tint to the finished product.
