Received a trio of Anthias August 18 from LA's Divers Den. They looked great. Spent 6 weeks in quarantine with only one minor incident: a female had a wound on it's side. All were treated with Kanaplex and Furan2. The wound healed and none lost appetite. I also de-wormed as part of my QT process. The largest of the three seemed to be starting the transition to male.
When they were added to the tank, my Kole Tang harassed the same female that previously had an injury, and the tormenting resulted in a Popeye, so we refer to her as Poppy. I removed the Kole Tang as I was nowhere near stocked and didn't want continued bullying. Poppy and the transitioning male hid, but would eat when food passed by their cave. While they hid, the other female, "Big Bertha", got... Well... Big! She ate. And ate. And ate. And colored up beautifully. I assume Bertha is now Bert.
Two weeks ago, just as I started seeing Poppy and her boyfriend come out more, her boyfriend had a Popeye. It has not healed, but he (?) is eating at every feeding. A few days ago I noticed torn fins, and their bodies appear roughed up. Today, Poppy is not eating and appears emaciated. I feed 3-4 times per day with Rod's food. The other two are still eating.
Two other fish in the tank are a Flame Hawkfish and Sleeper Goby. Both of them are normal.
Is this bullying? Could something else be going on? Any advice is welcome!
Other info: tank has been up and running since Nov. 2013. 75g mixed reef with 20g sump.
