No its the colony of the frag. First pic is a macro of a frag of the above pic.

your telling me that this pic is of the same coral as the other two? that doesnt make any sense this coral looks like it has polyps that protrude outwards while the others look like they protrude inwards... plus they are way different colors... still confused

well i guess i see it now but the colors are still off maybe its the moonlights or something... either way it is pretty cool

The frag and the larger shot are the same coral, just the frag is retracted with polyps closed. The op shouldn't have posted the frag pic for id since it was so fresh. It is a type of encrusting goniopora that has very short polyps. If you keep it in lower flow the polyps might come out a little more. They are nice corals, hardy too.

Thank you Reef Goddess. This is what I was looking for. Any idea on preferred light levels? I have the colony in the rear of my tank. The frag is up front in higher flow on a temporary frag rack. Both are extending polyps about the same length as seen in the cropped photo I took underwater with the flash.

HaHa you have goniopora......Sorry I had to.

But back to the subject at hand. I would say where ever you have it keep it there. That thing is beautiful!
