Ya, on alot of the sps peices that came in when i was working at the LFS had them. Just a harmless feather duster filtering for food every now and then. I dont know the correct name though.

Honestly, it looks like an sps encrusted barnacle. Pretty interesting whatever it is. :)

I was going to say barnacles as well. They kind of look like a pyramid shape that opens down the middle, and the "fan" that comes out is a straight line like one of those Asian-style fold-up fans (as opposed to circular like most feather dusters). I had some in my tank for a while, but I think they've all died.

I just got the very same peice you have in your picture. It's been in my tank for about 1 month now and the bottom half is neon green/purple sheen to it and the top half is all white and baby blue, very nice piece.

i got it from live aquaria

its lightened up a bit since i got it.....but hopefully its just a normal adjustment after shipping and adjusting to a new tank with brighter lights.

Yup, identical pieces, i'll have to snap a pic of mine. I have mine on the bottom of a 2 foot deep tank, it seems to enjoy the low light. I was told that they like it since they are a deepwater acro?

not sure about the deepwater......but yeah i was wondering where to put it. right now its getting pretty much blasted and is looking rather pale. i was thinking about putting it lower but i don't really have anywhere to put it lower.
