What are you dosing? Sps keepers.

With so many options out there today what are you dosing and why? It seems there’s more and more people successful today with sps tanks then 10 years ago! My tank is simple just top off with kalk and dose all for reef.. I also dose ammonia now to help keep nitrates up and a couple drops lugols every other day or so just cause I always see icp tests come back with low iodine for others.. I’m not into dosing tons of things and could care less what a icp test tells me about my tank as my corals grow and color just fine… I was dosing tons of bacteria and carbon dosing but my doser broke and I didn’t really notice a difference so I quit! I do add zeobak to diy coral snow after every water change which is normally 2-3 weeks but that’s about it! I know there’s lot of moonshiners out there with a lab but what else are people seeing positive results with?!?
Calcium and alkalinity and nothing else (alkalinity with Kalkwasser - or BRS sodium carbonate

I do! I use fans cause my skimmer draws 100° hot air all day from outside lol..
How big is your system. What state are you in? I live in Utah now and our dry weather can really evap a bit.

Wondering same thing. I’m not trying to increase evaporation in any way but my no-lid high surface area 80 gallons evaporates about 1.5 gallons a day. If I added fans I’m sure it would be more.

Funny how all this dosing talk has led to one thing in my mind… Kalk is magic for stony corals :) all this fancy ICP stuff and the OG will outgrow them all. Bacteria, aminos, and coral foods are just window dressing 🙄
Yep 3.5-4 gallons a day.. large ceiling fan above my tank and fans on my sump to keep it cool.. I draw hot air from outside for my skimmer.. kalk is the magic potion for sps if you ask me or lots of the top sps keepers.

I’m in Vegas.. 285 gal display with a 120 sump. It’s very dry and hot here lol.

I came back from a 10yr break with a lesson learned… got my feet wet with a 60gal cube and was like oh it’s upgrade time already huh… 120,180,240 then a 300. Nah it’s a 300 and be done! I switched tanks every 6-8 months my last go around lol.,

Lol! It was in jest as I know you are in Vegas :D I was more intrigued by the evaporation, but it was only because I forgot your overall display size.

Calcium reactor 60 ml per minute.

kalkwasser 8,000 ml per day.

Water change 10% per week.

AFR
Sodium Bicarbonate
Vinegar
Iodine
Ammonium Bicarbonate
Calcium Carbonate (reef snow) q 2 weeks
Occasional PO4 if I fall below .03 ppm

Started using the concoction from CRT. I hope to see results in the next six months. Bought a six pack ICP test too for testing every 2 months.

I am focused on acro coloration right now so I am thinking I'd dose properly with missing trace and keep it within NSW range.
How’s it working for you? I’m going to try some out as well.

I get really good PE so far. Still working on coloration. My AB, HW and WD are not up to par yet. But my RMF Psychoberry is almost textbook.

What is CRT ? Never mind, found my answer. Does it raise phosphates or lower them? I've seen a couple conflicting posts. Ideally Id like to raise mine so I can stop dosing them 🙂

Gonna depend on the tank! Some tanks like mine process them very fast and others don’t.

Yeah..I can't keep p04 up without dosing so I dose them whether I'm using the v3 or not.
Ammonia has some kind of trick that will tank phosphates it’s really weird! I can only imagine it’s the corals taking it up but that’s just my guess! Plenty of reports in Randy’s ammonia dosing thread of p04 tanking once starting ammonia and my tank was one of them.
