I'm surprised how many would like a Moorish Idol. I had one for a couple years. Awesome fish. They need to eat a few times day. Mine ate everything. If you get them to eat and set up auto feeders they stand a chance. Five or six feedings a day.

Blotched anthias (Borbonius)
Hawaiian Deep water Anthias
Cuddle fish (Separate Tank)

It was my dream fish until I kept one. It eat everything, well, too much things. It got quite an appetite on zoanthis, wiped my tank complete free of zoa, while still eating most during feeding...

As for getting it to eat, many don't understand that moorish idol is strict benthic feeder in the wild. They only know to pick on rocks for food. So when people trying to feed them from water column, it of course won't have a clue. The lucky part is that moorish idol usually recognize seaweed tied on rock pretty good, as long as the fish was in OK health to start with. But it doesn't seem to be well known from people trying to keep it, or fish sellers that handle them.

Had the emporer from a juvenile to adult and it was awesome. Had the brown and blue powder tangs and I think I could dig on a large tang tank with different angels mixed in. FO of course. Again the larger tank theme.

Guess my dream fishes would be a pair of mandarins
