Many places have been experiencing extremely warm temps during the past couple of weeks, again in Michigan we have been reaching temps of 100 and above not including the heat index. Trying to stay cool and comfortable in these temps can be somewhat of a challenge. What have you been doing to try to keep cool during this heat wave?

Stay inside in the air conditioning. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury at work, so I'm stuck with staying in front of a fan as much as possible and drinking lots of water. I've had enough summer heat this year, looking forward to the cooler temps of fall.

I have been staying inside quite a bit myself. My air conditioner doesn't work extremely well and my biggest windows (big front window and patio door) of my apartment face south. I have been keeping things shut up but still gets warm although humidity has been kept decent in the apartment. At work there is air but I am moving so much that it really doesn't seem to make a difference and then some of the residents insist on wanting to have their heat on, doesn't matter that it is 100 out. Getting ready to head out and pick up more icecream to stock the freezer with, have been eating a lot of that recently especially since cooking in this current heatwave just doesn't seem appealing.

When I am not at work I stay inside although I have to work outdoors which makes things much more uncomfortable.

When it's really hot, we keep all our blinds pulled and all doors with wide open windows shut, and ceiling fans on when necessary.

Stay inside with a HUGE glass of ice tea!!! I keep my house a little on the chilly side, so stepping out is like going from a freezer to an oven

I pave roads for a living so I am use to the extreme heat(asphalt is put down at about 350 degrees) but I drink a lot of cold water and Gatorade and I keep a cold cloth in my cooler to cool down with and at home we keep the air set at 65 so it's pretty cold

I live in Florida and work outside so every summer it is HOTTTTT! I try to look at the positive and look forward to the weight I gain during the holidays and the cooler months . Lots of h2o for sure! Nothing keeps you cool other than Ac:)

Where I live, 100* can be a blessing during the summer!! 100+ is normal! When we get over 110, that's not so nice!! Drink lots of water, and try to stay out of the heat as much as I can.

If you don't have AC, or your AC isn't working real well, putting your feet in some ice water will cool you off pretty well. (The theory is the flowing blood is cooled through your now cold feet, which drops body temps, it also works for warming.)

Sometimes, when it's really hot, I go to the grocery store and hang around the produce, meat, and freezer departments. But my house is usually set on 68

I try to stay indoors in the a/c whenever possible but if I am going to be outside I try to drink plenty of water. Today I took a dip in the pool ;)

I think I will have to give that a try, I think I could stand having my feet in the ice water for at least a while.

Missy ice tea sounds great right now, might need to brew myself some sun tea in the next day or so.

I like the heat, but this has been unusually warm for this time of the year to add in the fact that the humidity has been very high also. You walk outside and you feel like you are swimming through the air. It wouldn't be so bad if it would cool down more at night but over night temps have been in the mid 70's. I do like the warmth better than I do the cold but it is a bit too much when you are sitting still and still sweating :squigglemouth:

I love going outside, and if I have to I usually wear the following:

Shirts: One of those breathable shirts that weigh near nothing. Best to use a light color like white or something similar.

Shorts: Again something light like gym shorts or heck, if desperate times calls.. swim trunks.

Shoes: Flip flops. I have no sense of true style, but I can't being myself to wear crocs. ;)

Hat: Definitely a ball cap

Sunglasses: I can't live without these.

Keeping it light is best, but make sure you drink a bunch of water and wear sunscreen!

Alabama summers are like that all the time. Extreme humidity and temp is a unfortunate combination. I cope well in higher temps after living in Florida, but even still the heat, humidity combo can even get to me. It got to 108 last weekend and 100% humidity. I felt like I was in India or something. But down here most people have good working AC because its a health hazard not too. We keep out place at 76-78 in the summer to avoid the problems indoors.
