what do you do when your tank matures?

I was wondering what you guys plan to do when your tank matures? do you plan on just keeping it nice, clean, and mature? plan on starting another adventure? etc....

for my personal tank, I have at least 3-5 years before it gets to the maturity point. so atm, I'm gonna try my best to keep it clean, keep at the routine, and watch the tank mature.

what's your thought?

I guess I should've been more specific. mature for me is when all your corals grow to their maximum potential, either hitting the glass or overgrowing the rock they're at.

Hey Marvin! At what point is a tank mature? What defines mature. I thought after 2 years my tank is pretty mature. I have had no deaths, stable parameters and very healthy growth for a while now. I actually started a new tank right beside it and posted a new thread about it. Kind of nervous about transfering any of my corals into the new one. Especially the sps.

I would say if I ever get a tank to reach maturity that would be a great achievement in and of itself!

So, assuming that I were to get a tank to reach maturity I would say that I would keep it clean and mature. Maybe I would take a look and see if there is a coral that doesn't make me smile anymore, cut it out and sell it, then replace it with something new. But in most cases I would most definitely keep the tank mature and beautiful.

You know Marvin , this is a good question. Depends on the person and tank I would suppose. Just trim , maintain , and keep clean. Enjoy it. If your tank is smaller like 75g or such , then I would say upgrade time. Depends. Me I think I would get bored and either upgrade or sell a bunch and change it up. Either way not a bad spot to be.

1+ on what rams den said. If kept mature I would have to exchange corals here or there that didn't do it for me anymore. I love the hunt for nice pieces , I enjoy that part of the hobby. So I would always have to keep that going a little.

I have a 180 and it is getting more and more mature as time progresses.
I'm already looking at having to move a couple of things as It looks like
they may wind up touching.

I would think by the tile it fully matures I'll just relax and enjoy the view.

I know this is kinda wrong to say, but i would most likely cut it all up to nice size colony's for myself sell the rest to fund a bigger tank, or leave them big to get a frag tank. I just dont know what i would do not being able to collect the "Newest hot piece"

I plan on adding lost more fish as my 90g tank matures. corals are a given but fish do much better in a well matured tank

As the corals start to get too big, frag them and...sell, trade or grow-out for a bigger tank.

I haven't added anything to my tank (corals and fish) in a long time, but I frag the tank every 2 months and get store-credit for my frags that I use to buy salt, fish food and other dry goods....after a while the tanks do start to help paying for themselves

That is a tough one to say without ever being there myself. I would like to say I would let it be and frag when fragging was needed for the well being of the tank.
