so i found this light on ebay. what do you guys think about using it for a 29g bio cube? they also have a 175w version.

I wouldn't pay $200 for it, that is for sure.
It would be nice is they had multiple pictures so you could see the bulb connection, what type of ballast, and how thermally enclosed the fixture is.
It looks more like a $79 fixture to me.

When buying lighting - it is best to go with tried and true brands with a reputation for quality.
You DEFINITELY get what you pay for when it comes to lighting - EXCEPT when they just try and charge a huge amount for a no-namer that is a fire hazard waiting to happen - like a lot of lights off of ebay.

Go with a led unit... I just found a site with killer deals on them... Just search around there is a ton of ways to light those little bad boys..

I got my lights from aquatrader.com and everyone has said oh fire hazard, but they came out with new and better ballasts since.

I payed $300 for a 48in 2x250 MH 5x54 T5. My corals grow awesome, and i have about 6 clams. All i did was replace the bulbs.

They have a $99 unit that i once used on my old 29g. It worked great, the only prob was finding T5 that fit.

Ok so i just read the reviews at the bottom and its a list of negative stories haha.

I didnt have that experience with them, but i wouldnt put it past them. The lights are cheap, BUT i feel as long as you replace the bulbs your good...
