What I Ordered vs What I Got

wwc runs all blues most of the time. No way they will look the same in your tank running Kessill's and Purple plus T-5 bulbs. Switch out the purple plus for Blue plus and your coral will look much better

Fish of Hex is one of my favorites. Travis is awesome to deal with, ships each coral in it's own little plastic container and his prices are great. On top of all that he follows up with folks.

I just checked out his website. I love his program for Veterans who have PTSD! What a great idea.

* Update *

Taken from an email response from WWC.

"The color will always look a little different since our photos are taken top down/close up under 100% Radion Actinics.... They can also lose a little color in shipping due to stress but I agree the color on the Blue Heron and BOP do not look as nice as they should....."

WWC and I have reached a resolution, but this just demonstrates even more the need for a place to post pictures for comparison.

I would venture to guess that not many reefers keep their tanks at 100% actinic, and a place that catalogs images of frags in real tanks would be amazing!

I'm glad WWC is addressing your issues.

Sorry to here about your brown corals. Honestly 98% out of the 123 corals I have received from WWC has look really close if not exactly to the coloration of the picture. The few exceptions where sps which colored up after a few weeks. I have no experience with birds nest but that turbinaria will color up if you keep it alive it prefers lower light and stresses easy. I’ve had on before that took 6 months to color up but after it did it was stunning and one of my favorite corals
~Disclaimer~
I don’t like WWC expensive prices but have never been disappointed with coral received or customer service. I like buying from their ebay auctions where I can normally get around 20 corals for $200 or less. Some pieces at the ebay auction get extremely high a day before the auction stay away from those I go for the piece that are under $10 a min before the auction ends.

To be honest, I was waiting til the 4 week mark to post an update, but...

The birdsnest has shown some improvement in color, but is still an overall brown coral. Time will tell.

The turbinaria (green heron) looked amazing when it hit, and still looks amazing today. I am super happy with that one.

The turbinaria (blue heron) is still as brown as the day it hit, and in spite of the full polyp extension, accepting food, and being otherwise healthy, it isn't a coral I would have ever bought at any price - especially not at $89 bucks! Again, time will tell.

I did wait two weeks before deciding I was unhappy because I wanted to give the corals a chance to acclimate to the new environment, and hopefully "color up".

When they didn't, I reached out to WWC. They asked for photos (I provided them), and they agree. The corals were not representative of the images online.

We discussed tank placement, par requirements, and other conditions that may contribute to optimal coloration. The only one I was off on was the initial placement of the blue heron. It was possibly getting more light than it should have, but it's since been moved, and as before, time will tell.

In spite of my willingness to "wait it out" to see if the colors would improve, WWC insisted that I accept a store credit for the birds nest, and the blue heron. I've ordered new corals (different species), and am waiting for their arrival.

As for paying high prices. The prices are high, but not far off from my LFS pricing, and I don't mind paying a premium for spectacular color. I am not about to drop $300 on a gold torch head, or $600 for a frogspawn, but 90 or 100 bucks for something special - I'm good with that...

I am lucky and save $$ to buy from guys who kept corals and sell local
