Hello reefers I'm looking for some experience advice. Does anybody know what can cause this build up inside a display tank(A white hard film) . It is not algae or any type of calcium or Alk build up... I try to scrape it off with my flipper razor and it does nothing. When I use a regular razor it comes off. I razor scrapped my whole display got a lot of but caused a couple scratches . A few months later it shows back up I need to get this off ASAP it's annoying and I'm not trying to cause anymore damage to my display. Any advice would highly appreciated

Ps has anybody tried the air sander method. Using an air powered sander with an algae scrubber pad? Seen a video on Facebook ...

Tank is 2 years old
Currently dosing and using
Red Sea blue bucket
BRS 2 part Cal and Alk
Carbon dosing Vodka
Captive 8 trace elements (started before dosing)
Brightwell Phosphate E

Feeding benereef, reef roids, Live Phyto, and oyster feast, Avast reef jerky

Are you target feeding or broadcast feeding with the Reef Roids? You may want to stop with the Reef Roids for a while and see if it makes an impact on the biofilm. Good luck!

I’m not 100% sure but I had the same issue and I’m leaning towards a phyto build up more than anything else. I stopped dosing it a month ago and I still get it covering the glass. The only way I can remove it is with a magic eraser and a lot of elbow grease. It does come off that way. But my normal flipper scraper nor the scraper wand will touch it. I’m hoping it goes away naturally since it’s an absolute pain to get off. It only covers the glass.

That’s crazy I’ve never experienced this at all. As if we don’t have enough problems in a reef tank! Ha!
