I just saw this thing growing on one of my firefish and I was wondering what this might be. Is this natural? They have only been introduced to the tank two days ago and I have not noticed anything abnormal before this

A clearer picture would be really helpful. it seems to be behind and to the side of where something like a prolapse would be. It could be an injury

Yeah. The thing looks like a key sticking out of the fish.
Is it sticking out from the side or the middle of the bottom of the fish? A prolapse would be directly in the center, an injury or some other internal process would be on the side

From the side. I'll try to get another picture.

The fish can still swim quite well
