What is this ..???

Ok found this growing in a few places I think it's a sponge but seems too be encrusting ..its growing around and on a couple of corals

Agree, that looks like a sponge. The growing on coral does give me some pause. Take a turkey baster and blow on it. If it's a sponge it should not be easily displaced. If it comes apart and dislodges it could be a bacterial growth.

It's hard and encrusting..I had too break a couple of frags free from it, it's already grown up and over
