What is this?

Me and my boyfriend bought this coral a while ago and it had this weird looking green thing on it i thought it might be some type of coral but i never knew how to find out what it was exactly. Since there are a bunch of knowledgeable reefers here i was wondering if anyone could identify this...thing..

I am hoping this pic is okay. i dont have a very good camera

Does it have a stem? It looks like a mushroom to me.

looks to me like a mushroom sitting on that rock of zenia...maybe some kind of rodactus

no its just basically flat on the rock. and its not so squishi to the touch. but it was smaller when we first got it so this makes me think its something alive. im hoping its friendly though

Aren't rhodi's flat and from the mushroom family? Never owned one so I can't comment on it's structure or texture but it has the look of one.

Its a mushroom,Im sure of that.BTW-You have a TON of aptasia on that rock,that needs to be fixed fast!

yes rodactus are flat and thin .....they arent real slimmy like other shrooms

Doesn't look like a mushroom to me, no obvious mouth, radial lines from a central point at the center bottom and the growth is not symmetrical...not an expert by any means, but I have mushrooms and they don't kook like that. Is it calcareous? how long have you had it and how much has it grown?

yah there are a lot everywhere -.- i have stuff to get rid of them but there are just soooo many but thanks. it makes me wish i joined R2R before because then we would have caught it sooner and life would be better.

@ nuff40 i am getting closer pictures and i am hoping i can draw a line of how small it was before

to Nuff:
its been about a year since its been in the tank but we have a black velvet damsel that likes to eat the main coral on the rock so we put it in the back part of the tank (one section of the overflow part of the tank).
it kind of looks like it might plate off of one edge but i cant be sure that it is from that or something else.

i believe where the red line is thats the size it was when we first got it and it didnt have that much color, because we barely noticed it then
