I have never purchased fish online before, but I have a large order being quarantined by Dr. Reef. I know that there are many ways to acclimate, but I was curious what your preferred method is for fish that have been shipped to your home. I have a variety of fish going into a ~200g aquarium by the end of the month: tangs, wrasses, and a moorish idol (yes, wish me luck).

I bought an aclimation tube assembly. The idea I am not assuming any knowledge on your part. Is to get your fish used to your salinity , temp, and other chemical balances so slow but at the same time your fish will alraedy be stressed which is why I would never do what your doing. As to Quarantine again in your case would not aclimate them, and add all at once doing a visual inspection first as best you can. Arguably not the best way but like I said. I like to be in control of everything you have to trust too many people. You ever lend anything? No one cares about anything unless they own it not your stuff. good Luck

Would the good doctor not have acclimation instructions on their website, or included in the shipment? Most vendors do. I might suggest that you follow their advice because you may void whatever guarantee the fish may come with. Just my thought.

Good luck!

Yes, they do. I was just curious to hear from the rest of the community.

That's smart, I'm sure you'll get lots of replies, likely from others who have used the same vendor.

I would talk to the supplier to ask what their shipping salinity is and adjust the tank theyre going into accordingly ahead of time.

Upon arrival, float for temperature acclimation and cross check salinity after to verify both the bag and tank. If within .001 sg difference then I do nothing else but release the animals.
If the difference is greater then I'll make adjustments to the tank (easy on a quarantine) since that's faster (for me) in order to get them out of shipping water asap.

i add a few drops of prime to the bag either on the way home when they arrive. Then float the bag and drip acclimate for about 45 min.
