I have an auto feeder that dispenses the food into the return section of my sump, return pumps it to the display. I have found flake to work best for this. Pellet doesn't all get sucked into the pump and some settles in the sump.

What is your favorite/ what do you view as the best flake food?
I also feed tdo daily and frozen a few times a week.

I'd say either NLS flake or maybe even the newer Northfin flakes.

Have you tried turning the return pump off, to flush the pipes out. I was doing this return pump feeding also. It appears that it helps to feed a lot of bacteria in the pipes (may be good, may be bad). You May find a lot of white stuff floating around your tank when you turn the pump back on!

arent pellets supposed to be better and leak fewer nutrients into the water?
I have to dose PO4 to the tank as my level is so low. I feed 2x a day. My number of fish, I think, I proportionate to the size and volume of my tanks. Well, I have 4 large tangs in a 150 gal, blue tang may need to be removed to a large tank soon. Anyway, My fish are healthy and happy so why change?

IMHO, flake is great and people only get into trouble when their tanks are not balanced. They toss it in on the surface and it all goes down to the sump. I get a healthy pinch based on fish size and number and hold below the surface and release so the flake stays in the DT for the fish.
I’m an old time reefer so I have a lot of rock in the DTs and in the sump. I also run deep sand beds, run my skimmers more for CO2 exchange (run an outside line) than for export of nutrients. I got bubble algae from a frag in my big tank so I taught my tangs to eat it. Now I don’t have bubble algae.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
