I also have tried feeding with the gyres on and off and it seems the feeding response in fish is much more agressive if they have to chase their food. With the gyres off they still go after it, but, I don't think they eat as much or chase it as much. . .
I also feed with all my gyres and powerheads on. They attack the food as its swirls around.

I use AI Nero 3’s and 5’s in my tanks. I run as high of a return pump as my Red Sea Tanks will take. I set my wave maker/power heads at random from 25-65% and have them in different locations. In some tanks I have them on the back and the sides. Not sure if the back is good? Heard different opinions. I figure it will create an entirely different current than running two on each end.

Not sure I’ve never tried I have them on opposite sides and my mp40s on the back. There’s a ton of turbulence from them though so I would imagine they would if not obstructed with rock
