  1. You don't need a mature tank to keep coral or anemone. You just need to be a mature reefer to do so
  2. Add coral early on of the tank is easier than wait X months before adding coral
  3. Don't run your light high when you don't have coral in the tank
  4. Control nutrient level alone do not fix algae problem, nor it is needed
  5. CUC is disposable, but it's too often underutilized
  6. Ich eradication is overrated and not worth
  7. Jebao pumps are as good as most other return pumps
  8. Apex is a terribly engineered system with thick sugar coating
  9. Unpopular opinions are not unpopular

LEDs are overrated. Halides are still King.

NSA is a terrible fad and needs to go away sooner rather than later.

Bare bottom sucks.

All for Reef isn't everything it is hyped up to be.

Water changes do more harm than good when utilized weekly.

IG tanks are rarely any good. Anyone can stock a tank with LPS and fluoresce them with blue LEDs.

Most YouTubers will lead you down the wrong path.

Old school methods will produce better long term results.

I'm ready to fight :p
What is an IG tank?

Oh, here's another one : most acro sticks look like every other stick to me. Random hairy 1 inch frag with a name associated with spousal neglect : 159.99.
Yeah. The difference between many "high end" acro are basically 50 shades of greed green

Fish are cooler than corals.

Now that there is a FOWLR forum I can speak the truth :)

I've had many reef tanks over the years and converted one of my tanks just recently back to FOWLR. I do appreciate the beauty in a reef but limits my fish choices. I'll keep enjoying your reefs instead.

I don't understand why there is such a distinction between reef and FOWLR tank. There are many corals can be kept with many of the non reef-safe fish. The actual viable choices depends on the particular fish. But how's that different from choosing other fish that compatible with the focus fish, or choosing coral that works with the focus corals? Why does keeping a porcupine puffer and humu trigger means one can't try any coral in the tank?

it doesn’t per se. However FOWLRs are usually kept at lower salinity and lighting levels than reef tanks. Adding corals means adjusting Params and life support.
