What killed my acan?

I had a gorgeous red and white acan that got killed by this ( see pic ) what the heck is it and how concerned should I be, and how do I rid it from my system

I had a purple mushroom extend onto my acan the other night, i placed it too close, idk what happened but it burnt half a head off my acan, not sure if this is the same case but whatever it is froim the picture resembles a fuzzy mushroom. I would remove it if I wear you, just incase?

How long ago did this happen. I ask because it seems like there is algae growing on the skeleton.

Noticed the white tubes about a week ago and bam dead just haven't gotten around to pulling it out yet, paint covered hands lol

wait the thing on top is your acan skeleton? I was very confused at my first post then. I thought the acan skeleton was a mushroom and the white blob is whats left of the acan, my suggestion in retrospect is completely invalid, picture confused me. Hope it works out!

Does the white tuberous thing move? Is it soft or hard?

I have something like that mixed in one of my zoas near my acans that have been getting eaten. Thought it was a sponge but maybe not!

Looks like a sponge to me, or maybe there is a critter underneath that builds a cacoon?

It was Colonel Mustard in the library with the led pipe. Just kidding.... It looks like a sponge to me, and if that is what it is, I doubt that is what killed it.

Don't think it's a sponge it's hard, kinda tube like and this is most certainly what killed me acan, all other coral are flourishing
