First of all, welcome, and sorry this got buried. I will try to help by asking the #MODS put this post in the correct forum. That could be a type of film algae that a good clean up crew like snails and hermit crabs can help with. The tank is newer and will go through some changes as it matures.

Its the type that comes on in a new tank. Turn on blues and it will go away :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: Seriously it's a natural progression. I have the same thing and didn't know it until I saw the tank under room lighting. This is my first start with dry rock and bare bottom. I did cheat and add some seeded media from another tank I have.

I agree with the above. Natural tank progression into ugly phases. Lower your phosphate and get a diverse cleaner crew. Weekly water changes. Focus on stability and expect various ugly phases during the first year.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
